39 Ford

The 39 ford that I had was not a convertible. It was a coupe with three on the floor. It had an 85 HP engine but acted like it was 300 HP. It was surpriseingly fast for a 85 HP. It would burn rubber in the first two gears.

But the engine used a lot of oil, so much that I could not afford to buy the oil to put in it so I would go to service stations and they would give me drain oil. As time went on I realized that water was leaking into the oil, Oh Oh this meant a cracked block. But the car ran well never missed or lacked power so I just kept driving it. Then it started smoking and kept getting progressively worse. One time I was driving on a road that had a long bend in it like you could look back to the side and see where you had been. This time I could see the smoke coming out of the car and drifting out into the field and it looked like a smoke screen and was absolutely amazing. In those days nobody seemed to care and there was no law about a smoking car. I traded in in on a 1938 chrysler.
