1976 Mlnnie Winnie

Another day another story; This Minnie Winnie was not so big, it had an over  cab bed and a couch that made into a bed. This MH had a lot of power with a dodge 440 cubic inch engine.
We took this MH to many places such as Lake Tahoe, Renisance Fair, LA CA. UT. and Ft Bragg CA.  Ginny and I went on a trip to Ft Bragg CA to visit her sister. We stopped in  Napa CA to spend the night, taste some wine and find a good place to dine. Some people told us that there was a place on the top of this small mountain that would suit our needs, we climbed the mountain with the Minnie and sure enough we found a great place in a  barn converted to a restaurant with lots of charm. We tasted wine, ate some excellent food and then drank some harder stuff, don't remember what it was.
When we returned to the minnie the wine began to mock us (Biblical) and we got into a heated argument about whether we would sleep on the overhead or make the couch out. We proceeded down the mountain without a truce. When we bottomed out there was a turnout that went up a slight incline and leveled out and was a good place to park but the battle was still on. After sitting there for about fifteen minutes battering each other with dirty digs Ginny got out of the passenger seat and exited out the door.BUDS STORY I sat there for about ten minutes waiting for her to come back in, but she didn't, now I was starting to wonder where in the world she could have gone so I slipped out to investigate, walked round and round in the dark moonless night calling as I went but there was no sound not even a breath or a burp. Giving up I went back into the MH and sat in the drivers seat.
I sat there for another ten minutes then still nothing. Then came a motorcycle down the highway   which had been quite passed me and stopped about 150 ft. behind the MH. As I was watching in the mirror the cycle sat there for about three minutes then made a u turn and came back past me and sped away. At this point my mind was working overtime, could she have got on that cycle with this someone and was going with them. Sounded crazy but in her frame of mind this could be happening and my alcohol stained mind convinced me she was on the cycle I started the MH and took off after them. What I didn't know was that we were parked next to a very small town and by the time I got to the other end of this small town the cycle had turned again and was coming towards me so I found a spot and turned around as fast as possible and put the pedal to the metal of the minnie.  When I got down to where I was parked the cycle had turned again, I had no choice but to turn and punch the 440 again. When I got through the small town here they came flying at me, I had to stay with them so I whipped around and throttled after them but this time they just kept going and did not turn so I just turned into the parking spot. Just a few minutes later the door opened and Ginny entered and was I so happy.
GINNY'S  STORY   I was not going to make up that bed on the couch so I just walked out the door maybe to cool off and compose. The door opened and Bud came out and walked around for a few minutes and went back in. It was really dark and I could hardly see at all but after awhile my eyes accustomed to the dark plus feeling I decided that we were parked next to a vineyard. It was cold but I was not going in at least not for awhile. All of a sudden the MH started up and Bud took off down the road, now I started to panic, what was going to happen now. In about 3 minutes here comes a motorcycle down the road and turns around and heads the other way and then Bud comes in the MH also turning around and chasing after the MC What in the world is going on, This is crazy.  Typical of the first time the MC came Bud came again until the Motorcycle just kept going and Bud stopped and parked. I got into the MH not too angry and we slept on the overhead.
The next morning we were awakened at dawn by the clanging of instruments that sounded like pots and pans with voices with a lot of whooping and yelling. The workers had come to pick grapes. Twas a very sleepless night!
