1957 Oldsmobile Fiesta Wagon

Here I am with two of my favorites; my lovely wife and 57 Olds Fiesta Wagon. This wagon was fantastic, with the super  88 engine fine lines and lots of room for us and our four kids.
We took many trips to SLC Ut. from our home in Fair Oaks CA. to visit friends and relatives in this car. I also took this car to Arcata CA to work on the Humboldt Liberal university We would work 12 hrs a day 7 days a week for 2 weeks and then go back home for one week which was   like a mini vacation.                                         Robin Hood It was about 3 AM when Ginny woke me and said that there was a car that came down our road and stopped. I will have to explain that we lived at a dead end road which is in an olive orchard. When Ginny woke me I was dead to the world because I had been working hard on my job, She was telling me that I should go outside and see if it was someone stealing something, I sleep in my shorts so I had to put something on my body so I grabbed a black overcoat from the closet and headed out, Ginny stopped me and said that I needed something to protect me with. Well I didn't have a gun so I took my bow and arrow.  I went out the front door and looked for the car or someone. I spotted the car parked about 150 feet into the orchard and to the right of our house.  I approached the car and saw nothing. As I was walking around to the front of the car I was startled by the headlights coming on and after about 10 seconds the engine started and the car started to backup. I must have scared whoever was in that car to death seeing me in an overcoat with a bow and arrow and my hair sticking up like a punk rocker because my hair just sticks up when I sleep. The driver kept backing up out of the orchard went across our gravel road and backed into my brother and sisterinlaws mailbox whose home we were watching. The driver mangled the mail box and backed onto my brotherinlaws  lawn started to pull forward digging a rut in the lawn. I yelled for him to stop, he/she didn't so I let an arrow fly at the car the car still didn't stop.                                                                                                                                                                               I went back to our house and Ginny came out the front door telling me that she saw the car on the street behind ours, so I put my bow away got into my car and went to look for the invader/evader.  I didn't see a car on the street behind ours so I drove around a little and went home.  When I got there a sheriff car was there, the sheriff wanted to know if we had seen some guy with a bow and arrow?  We said it was me and he explained that a couple had called and said that they parked their in the orchard so that they could have some time to themselves for some lovemaking.

The next morning when I arrived at work my friend and fellow worker informed me that there was an article on the front page of the Sacramento Bee newspaper about me. He said that it said He shoots an arrow into the air and where it lands, "trouble".  As soon as I could I got a news paper and sure enough there it was and it told an exagerated human interest story that was only partially true. Then it said that Maid Marion was not heard from.

When I returned home from work Ginny told me that KCRA channel 3 called and said that they wanted me to come to the TV station and bring my bow and arrow so that they could make a visual story  Well she then proceeded to tell them the real story and if they didn't retract the original story that we would sue them for making me look like a fool and jerk. That evening the story was retracted on TV and the last thing that was said was "and maid Marion was heard from."

For about a year after this incident we received letters addressed to "Robin Hood in care of Sherwood Forrest" and we would get them, they were all friendly and humorous.
