1962 Cadillac

My word for the 62 cad is "refined" the lines were smooth and articulated. We were truly amazed at the little gadget on the dashboard that would dim  the headlights when a car was approaching at night. It was comfortable, delightful and was a joy to drive.

We drove the car to Victor Montana to move Ginny's grandmother "Mama" to Fair Oaks Ca. to be with family. It was a pleasant trip. We stopped at a small restaurant in Idaho and had sour dough pancakes, they were so good; they told us that the starter was over a hundred years old. This impressed us so we asked them for some starter and surprisingly they gave us some. We have enjoyed it for years and years.

LAND VOYAGE TO MEXICO We rented a travel trailer (pulled by the cad)  and took a family trip to Mexico with many stops along the way. The first was http://www. Forestier Uderground Garden  in Fresno CA we saw a billboard sign telling of it along hwy 99 so we just rolled in and enjoyed this unique and unbelievable garden. If the link doesn't work please type it into your browser.

KNOTTS BERRY FARM 8039 Beach Blvd/ Buena Park CA. We had a good time and even joined a singalong. Since we were parked in their parking lot we were thinking that we would sleep in their lot, well we were thinking wrong; just after midnight a bang on the door the interupter said no camping allowed. We just drove and drove until we came to an LDS church with a large parking lot so we invited ourselves again. Early in the morning we were awakened by hammering and sawing, the Mormons were putting an addition onto their church.

TIJUANA MEXICO Always interesting and excellent inexpensive shopping. We had in mind to have seat covers put in the Cad.  We found someone to do it for $70.00 but he wanted $40.00 to buy materials, I didn't like this arrangement but finally took the chance. While we were waiting for the covers to be installed we watched the Mexicans pour concrete. They had a pile of sand and gravel, they would put about ten shovels of sand and gravel in a pile on an existing slab of concrete, mix with a few shovels of cement then mix it with their shovels then add water and mix more. They then shoveled the mix into a wheelbarrow wheeled it to where they were pouring and dump it but the whole tub came off. They would then pick up the tub and put it back on the frame and then do it all over again. We were happy with the finished seat covers and they even made a little seat for our youngest,

ENSENADA MEXICO When we started out on their new toll road to Ensenada the toll was $2.00. we went another 10 miles and another tollgate. This time the toll was $5.00. I didn't like it but paid the toll and continued on for another ten miles and another tollgate with a toll of $7.00. That was it I lost my cool and better sense. I asked them which way to the old road and then told them off in English and proceeded to the sorry old road which was really sorry and so were we. As soon as we could we went back to the toll road.

In Ensenada it rained and it rained hard, I thought it was going to flood, the water was over the high curbs but it finally stopped. We were told not to drink the water and we didn't but we made the mistake of ordering mixed drinks with ice from a bar on the beach resulting in Ginny getting very sick. Will never make that mistake again.

Aside from a failed fuel pump we had a wonderful trip home.
